A penny for your thoughts?
Any photographer worth his or her salt knows the importance of getting direction before a photography session and following up afterward for feedback. Engaging clients in a conversation around their needs frequently determines the success or ultimate satisfaction of the final delivered images.
These days, it seems everyone takes photos, lots of them. Making photographs, though, for clients consists of a different process. Rather than simple button pushing, it’s important to hatch a plan, one that’s thought out. But it should also have enough wiggle room for accommodating any re-direction, creativity surges, unanticipated problem solving or executive orders that may arise.
Clients more often know what they don’t want, vs. what they do. Communication plays a critical role in getting a sense for what types of visual imagery need capturing. All of the important stuff usually happens not on the front side of the camera, but the 8″ behind it.
When it all comes together, it clicks, as they say (pun intended 🙂 ).
I’m happy to share today two customer reviews for my recent work in event and biodynamic farm photos (aka nature photography). I’ve greatly enjoyed building a relationship with these companies and look forward to continuing to set the bar high for their imagery. Learning to see with fresh eyes at every event keeps me going. I’m always keeping an eye out for a new perspective, composition or way of telling the story in a fresh way.
Speaking of new directions, I will be creating a quarterly newsletter with exclusive offers, insider information and other goodies. To stay in the know, simply sign up at the top right of the page (the red button) with your first name and email address. If you have any questions, drop me a line in the comment box at the end of this post or send an email through the about page. I look forward to staying in touch this 2015 and in the future.
“Anne is a pleasure to work with! She’s incredibly professional, and very talented. She was one of a handful of photographers I asked to photograph an event for KUER and she provided some of our best and favorite photographs from the day. She works with minimal instructions and knows just how to approach the type of subject she’s working with – I look forward to working with her in the future.”
